From March 2015, Germanwings will offer flights between Dortmund Airport and Ankara. Every Saturday evening (9:45 p.m.), the airline will take off from the Ruhr airport to the Turkish capital. The return flight will land in Dortmund on Sunday morning (6:05 p.m.). The airline is thus further expanding its offerings from Dortmund and its summer flight schedule includes five destinations from there.
With Ankara and the Sabiha Gökçen Airport in Istanbul, Germanwings already boasts two Turkish destinations in its Dortmund schedule. It also flies to Munich, Split and Palma de Mallorca. Only last week, the airline announced that it is increasing its flights from Dortmund to the Balearic Islands. Between June and August 2015, there will be eleven flights a week to Mallorca instead of eight. With these moves, Germanwings is responding to the withdrawal of airberlin from Dortmund and the subsequent discontinuation of the Mallorca flights.
