During the two-week autumn holidays, which fell in the last week of October and the first week of November this year, a total of 96,321 passengers used Dortmund Airport. This means passenger traffic remained at the previous year’s level (2016: 96,386 passengers). Around 30 destinations were available to travellers during the autumn holidays, including some new attractive sunny destinations like Varna, Thessaloniki and Hurghada. The most popular destination with the passengers was London. 10,563 passengers used the connections from Dortmund to Stansted or Luton to reach the European metropolis. The routes to Katowice (10,184 travellers) and Palma de Mallorca (9,364) from Dortmund were also used particularly frequently.
The last quarter of 2017 started with a particularly busy month. 191,828 passengers flew to and from Dortmund Airport in October. This corresponds to over six percent more passengers than in the previous year (180,584). The overall positive traffic development in recent months will most likely continue until the end of the year. Given the new traffic in the winter flight schedule and stable use of established routes, the target of 2 million passengers is within reach.
