New baggage regulations for Wizz Air

An overview of the changes for carry-on and checked baggage

Handgepaeck im flugzeug von wizz air

New baggage regulations will enter into effect starting 1 November 2018 at the Hungarian airline Wizz Air. Each passenger will be allowed to bring one carry-on baggage with maximum dimensions of 40 x 30 x 20 cm into the aircraft cabin free of charge and guaranteed. Please note that the carry-on baggage must not exceed the specified dimensions and may not weigh more than 10 kg.

Wizz Priority

If you would like to carry a wheeled suitcase (max. 55 x 40 x 23 cm, 10 kg) in addition to the free carry-on baggage, you can book the Wizz Priority Service, which is subject to charges. This includes additional services such as preferred boarding and use of a separate check-in counter.

New: Checked baggage up to 10 kg

The option to book a piece of checked baggage up to 10 kg is new. The costs start from 7 € each way with online booking. The 20 kg and 32 kg weight classes are still available for checked baggage. In total, each passenger is entitled to check in up to 6 pieces of baggage. Three of them can be booked cheaply online, and three more can be added at the airport with higher fees.

Short trips are increasingly popular

Wizz Air has shared that every third airline customer takes a trip of three or fewer days. This also reduces the amount of baggage needed. The new baggage allowance makes it possible for Wizz Air passengers to choose from many booking options and only pay for what they use

Detailed information on the new baggage regulations is also available on the Wizz Air website starting 01.11.2018. A summary is available here as a video:
