In the first quarter of 2023, a total of 592,300 passengers used Dortmund Airport for their travels. This represents an increase of 46.2 percent in the year on year comparison and was the best start to the year in the airport's history. In the first quarter of last year, the airport recorded 405,085 passengers, 73% of the passenger numbers from the first quarter of 2019. At the time, in the first three months of the year demand was still significantly negatively impacted by the effects of the omicron variant. The passenger figures for the first quarter of 2023 are thus 6.8% higher than the figures for the first quarter of 2019.
With the current growth, Dortmund Airport is well on course towards achieving the target of over 2.6 million passengers for 2023.
The increases in frequency and new destinations in the summer flight schedule, which has been in effect since the end of March, offer passengers more attractive destinations and capacity. From the end of April, Dortmund Airport will also be adding the Armenian capital Yerevan to its range of destinations.
