Airport breaks passenger record

As of today, Dortmund Airport has reached a milestone: For the first time in its history, more than 3 million passengers have chosen Dortmund Airport as the start or endpoint of their journey within a single calendar year. It is already evident that 2024 will be the airport's most successful year yet.
Sena Bostan was also pleased while checking in for her Pegasus flight to Istanbul. Airport Managing Director Ludger van Bebber and Guido Miletic, Head of Airport Services, Marketing & Sales, seized the opportunity to personally welcome the record-breaking passenger. The nurse, who works at St. Josefs Hospital, was on her way to visit family just before the holidays.
After the airport recorded a record year in 2023, management targeted the three million passenger milestone at the start of the year. Despite ongoing challenges in air travel, this ambitious goal was achieved just two weeks before year-end. “We are proud to welcome our 3 millionth passenger today. This moment demonstrates that Dortmund Airport is on the right track, with an increasing number of travellers appreciating and benefiting from our expanding services,” explains Ludger van Bebber. At the same time, he extends his thanks to everyone who contributed to this success: “We want to thank our passengers for their trust in achieving this milestone. Additionally, I want to express my appreciation to the entire airport team, as well as the authorities and partners involved, for the exceptional work carried out every day."
A broad range of destinations and its ongoing expansion have proven successful for the airport in the Ruhr area over recent years. The flight schedule includes a blend of classic holiday spots, key business hubs, and routes for homeward travellers. Ludger van Bebber continues: “We are experiencing a highly dynamic phase, not only building on proven partners but also exciting our guests with new travel possibilities through fresh partnerships.” The airport will introduce routes to Chişinău and Bacău in 2024. For 2025, additional flights on the Condor route to Mallorca and the reinstatement of the route to Craiova by Wizz Air have already been announced.
