With the onset of the Christmas season and the upcoming school holidays, Dortmund Airport is gearing up for the last travel surge of the year. For the period from 21 December to 6 January, the airport anticipates a passenger volume of about 165,000 travellers.

This year's winter flight schedule offers a choice of 33 destinations across 19 countries. With up to five flights daily, Katowice is the most frequented destination during the holiday period. Exciting New Year's Eve city trips also commence directly from Dortmund: Flights to London and Rome occur multiple times a week, offering perfect settings for an unforgettable New Year - be it at the iconic London Eye or against the historic backdrop of the Colosseum. For those wishing to greet the New Year with milder temperatures by the sea, Palma de Mallorca is an ideal choice. With eleven flights per week, there are ample opportunities for a getaway on the Mediterranean island during the festive season.

Winter sports enthusiasts and snow lovers can opt for Cluj-Napoca, Vilnius or Krakow as their destinations. These locations not only offer culinary delights and enchanting Christmas markets but also provide access to appealing winter sports areas. The Romanian city of Bacău, newly serviced by DAN AIR since 18 December, is a hidden gem for culture and history enthusiasts. Another addition is the resumed route to Chişinău in the Republic of Moldova, available again since 16 December.

Given the holiday-related increase in passenger volume, the airport advises using online check-in in advance whenever possible and arriving at the terminal at least 2.5 hours before departure.

Dortmund Airport wishes you a joyful holiday season and a prosperous start to 2025.
