First flight to Bacău launched

Dortmund Airport is pleased to announce the successful inaugural flight by Romanian airline DAN AIR to George Enescu International Airport in Bacău before the year ends. This new connection further expands the airport's network to include another Romanian destination. The route will initially be available until mid-January, before resuming in April with two weekly flights to coincide with the summer schedule.
The inaugural flight was marked by a traditional water salute upon the aircraft's arrival at Dortmund Airport. “DAN AIR is a young and dynamic airline with ambitious plans for the European market,” commented Ludger van Bebber, managing director of the airport, highlighting the airline’s progress. “We are excited to be among the first German airports collaborating with DAN AIR to offer our guests a thrilling new travel option.”
Matt Ian David, CEO of DAN AIR, is equally pleased with the launch of the new route: “Dortmund is not just a new destination in our network but also a chance to connect the Romanian community in Germany to their loved ones back home. We recognise Dortmund as a regular destination for many from this part of the country,” he stated. He elaborates: “By launching this route, we confirm our commitment to addressing our passengers’ needs by ensuring accessibility and comfort, and by setting frequencies aligned with demand. We are eager to strengthen the connection between Dortmund and the Moldova region and to enhance the appeal of the George Enescu International Airport in Bacău.”
Bacău serves as a gateway for tourists to the Carpathians, perfect for outdoor pursuits like hiking, cycling, and skiing during winter. The picturesque Mircea Cancicov Park and the pristine natural surroundings make it an enticing destination for nature enthusiasts. Historically, Bacău boasts cultural treasures such as the splendid Biserica Precista and the Art Museum, while the local culture and cuisine, including dishes like sarmale and mititei, offer a distinctive allure.
