First flight to Warsaw has commenced

The initial flight last Sunday marked the official inauguration of the new connection between Dortmund Airport and Warsaw Chopin Airport. Wizz Air operates the route on five days a week - Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays - offering a direct connection for city and business travellers to Poland's largest and most populous city.
Guido Miletic, Head of Airport Services & Marketing & Sales, expresses his enthusiasm about the route network's expansion: “Warsaw is a valuable addition to our flight schedule and an attractive destination for travellers departing from Dortmund. The new connection not only enhances tourist exchange but also bolsters the economic ties between Germany and Poland.” Warsaw is becoming increasingly pivotal due to Poland's dynamic growth. With the new direct connection, accessing this thriving business hub becomes even easier and more flexible.
The city, home to luminaries like Marie Curie, offers a wealth of attractions. Architectural treasures include the Royal Palace, the stunning Łazienki Park, the grand Palace of Culture and Science, and the UNESCO World Heritage listed old town. Numerous museums, such as the Warsaw Uprising Museum, the Fryderyk Chopin Museum, and the National Museum, are conveniently situated close to one another. Despite its capital city charm, the city stands out with relatively affordable prices for accommodation, dining, and leisure activities. “Warsaw captivates with impressive diversity and enormous tourism potential. Wizz Air is opening the gateway to one of Europe's most thrilling cities for travellers from Dortmund,” summarises Guido Miletic.
Salvatore Gabriele Imperiale, Corporate Communications Manager at Wizz Air, highlights the significance of the new route: “We are excited to launch the new route between Dortmund and Warsaw. This is a crucial connection linking two fast-developing cities and fostering both tourism and business travel alike. With this new service, passengers from Germany will have easy access to the heart of Poland - a country rich in history, culture, and economic potential. We We look forward to welcoming travellers on board our flights."
With over 21 million passengers in 2024, Warsaw Chopin Airport stands as not only the busiest airport in Poland but also the country's most significant hub within the country. The airport plays a central role in linking to international air travel, which now also benefits passengers at Dortmund Airport. Following Katowice and Gdansk, Warsaw has become the third and easternmost Polish destination served from Dortmund. By autumn 2025, the route to Olsztyn-Mazury will resume, marking the fourth Polish destination.
