Dortmund Airport has announced that the Hungarian airline Wizz Air will be adding another connection to neighbouring Poland at the start of the 2026/2027 winter season. As of 25 October 2026, the low-cost carrier will once again provide flights to the Nicolaus Copernicus Airport in Wrocław, with flights operating four times a week from Dortmund. Travellers can reach the capital of Lower Silesian Voivodeship in just 90 minutes on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

Breslau, known in Polish as Wrocław, is located in southwest Poland and is the fourth-largest city in the country, with approximately 650,000 residents. The city's landscape is significantly characterised by the River Oder and its tributaries: The city spans twelve river islands, linked by over 100 bridges, leading Wrocław to be dubbed the "Venice of Poland". As a bustling university town, Wrocław offers a diverse range of leisure activities, including numerous museums, theatres, and a vibrant nightlife featuring many cafés, bars, and restaurants. Among the city's most renowned landmarks are the Gothic town hall, Cathedral Island, and the Centennial Hall, which is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

“Wrocław is a significant cultural and economic hub, and we are delighted to once more be a part of this bridge between Germany and Poland,” says Guido Miletic, Head of Airport Services + Marketing & Sales. “In recent years, Poland's economy has gained significant momentum and is becoming increasingly important to the German market. Hence, it is advantageous that Dortmund Airport is continually expanding its connections with the neighbouring country." Polish destinations are already a staple in Dortmund's flight schedule. Katowice and Gdańsk have been among the top travel destinations from Dortmund for several years. In June this year, Wizz Air also introduced a route to Warsaw in its flight network, and later in October 2025, the route to Olsztyn-Mazury will be reinstated.
