Dortmund Airport and North Rhine-Westphalia will officially welcome the Easter holidays next weekend. The airport expects to be very busy during the holiday period, with more people in the terminal and higher traffic: around 145,000 passengers are likely to use the airport in the period from 28 March to 12 April 2026.

Many passengers enjoy using the milder spring for some travelling after the cold winter season. Whether it is sunny city breaks to Istanbul, cultural explorations of Gdansk or relaxing holidays in numerous other spots around Europe – families, city enthusiasts and many others craving a relaxing break all benefit from the wide range of direct connections from Dortmund.

Just in time for the Easter holidays, the summer flight schedule will start on the first holiday weekend, bringing even more flights from Dortmund. For all sun-seekers, SunExpress will return from its winter break with daily services from Dortmund to Antalya during the holidays. This is an ideal opportunity to enjoy a sun-kissed break during the holidays in pleasantly mild spring temperatures. Many travellers also opt for a trip to the Balearic Islands during the Easter holidays. Eurowings flies to Mallorca up to 11 times a week. A particular highlight in the flight schedule is the new direct connection to the British capital of London. Wizz Air will stage daily flights to the vibrant urban centre during the Easter holidays. Travellers can therefore benefit from an attractive opportunity to take a convenient and non-stop flight and experience world-famous sights, cultural diversity and London’s unique flair. During the Easter holiday, passengers will be able to choose from a total of 37 destinations in 18 countries.

Due to the expected higher volume of travellers, passengers are advised to allow sufficient time for arrival, check-in, departure for non-EU destinations and security checks. They should also plan their arrival with due consideration of the current roadworks around the airport. Dortmund Airport recommends arriving at the airport around three hours prior to the scheduled departure. Digital services are also available to facilitate the process even more. Parking spaces can be booked online and, if possible, passengers are advised to use one of the ten self-service drop-off counters for their luggage. Your holiday will get off to a much smoother start if you limit your hand luggage to the bare essentials and prepare for security screening in good time.
