Connecting Dortmund with Dolce Vita: Wizz Air is adding another major European city to its Dortmund flight schedule, starting 25 October 2026. This new direct connection will whisk passengers off to Milan in under two hours. With this service, Wizz Air is placing Italy back on the airport's departure board as a holiday destination, with flights to Milan Malpensa Airport taking to the air seven days a week.

Nestled in the west of Lombardy, Milan is a nexus of art and fashion, a financial hub and university city that captivates visitors with its diversity and innumerable attractions. "Dortmund Airport already services a dense route network in Eastern Europe. We are thrilled that Wizz Air is again expanding our programme with a connection to Southern Europe”, emphasises Guido Miletic, Head of Airport Services + Marketing & Sales. "Milan is a top tier travel destination. And its attractions do not end at the city limits. The surrounding lakes and Alps turn the region into the ideal destination for summer and winter holidays alike.”

In summer, Milan is a great place to set off on excursions to Italy's largest lakes: Lago di Como, Lago di Garda and Lago Maggiore are right on the doorstep and are just perfect for water sports, strolls along the shoreline or exploring the villages round about. The nearby Alps boast a variety of hiking trails and attract winter sports enthusiasts to their numerous ski resorts in the colder months. The Swiss border is also less than an hour away from Milan.

Feted as the ‘fashion capital of Italy’, the vibrant urban centre is home to a very special kind of shopping experience, for instance at the eye-catching Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. The city is shaped also by its deep roots in the history of art: it was here in the convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie that Leonardo da Vinci painted his seminal masterpiece “The Last Supper”. The Teatro alla Scala is among the world’s preeminent opera houses, while Milan Cathedral, whose Gothic walls took over 500 years to construct, is today the city's most famous landmark. Football fans flock to the venerable San Siro Stadium to watch matches between the Serie A clubs Inter and AC Milan. Milan is also a great choice for foodies: from Michelin-star restaurants to cosy bars for early evening drinks, the city transforms every visit into a pleasurable experience.

Flights are now available to book at Wizz Air.
