Dortmund Airport is kicking off the winter season on 25 October with 40 non-stop destinations. Until the end of March, Wizz Air, Eurowings, SunExpress and Pegasus Airlines are offering a diverse network of routes, providing opportunities for city breaks, pre-Christmas getaways and holidays in the countryside.

Wizz Air is continuing to offer an extensive range of flights this winter, with a focus on Eastern Europe and the Balkans. With ten destinations, Romania continues to top the list in the flight schedule. But even beyond these regions, there is plenty to discover from Dortmund in winter. This means that the recently introduced connections to London, Milan and Palermo will continue to operate throughout the winter months. Travellers can look forward to another new development right at the start of the new flight schedule: From 25 October, Wizz Air will operate up to seven flights a week from Dortmund to the Italian capital, Rome.

Gdansk and Craiova are just two of the destinations ideal for pre-Christmas city breaks. Gdansk is a hit with visitors thanks to its Christmas market – which was named the best in Europe last year – and its festively decorated historic old town. The Polish Hanseatic city can be reached daily from Dortmund. Craiova in Romania is also well worth a visit: Impressive light displays and elaborate decorations lend the Christmas market a special atmosphere. For those who prefer to spend time in the snow, Montenegro offers an alternative: Kolašin is situated about an hour’s drive from the capital, Podgorica, and, with its ski resorts and stunning mountain scenery, offers the perfect setting for a winter holiday. Winter sports enthusiasts should also take a look at northern Italy: The Alps are easily accessible from Milan.

Fans of Mallorca don’t have to go without a direct connection to the popular Balearic island during the colder half of the year: Eurowings operates regular flights on this route during the winter months. Istanbul also remains on the itinerary in the winter flight schedule. Pegasus Airlines operates flights several times a week to Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport, which offers travellers not only access to the Turkish metropolis but also connections to the airline’s international route network. As well as the 40 or so destinations within Turkey, Pegasus offers a wide range of other destinations to choose from, including Baku, Doha and Hurghada.
