After two busy weeks for travellers, Dortmund Airport is taking positive stock of the 2026 NRW Easter holidays and has recorded a significant increase in passenger numbers. In the period from 28 March to 12 April, a total of 168,292 passengers used the airport as their departure or arrival point. This means that the volume of traffic during this year's holidays is 24 per cent higher than the previous year's figure, which corresponds to an increase of over 32,000 travellers.

With a five-digit number of guests, Katowice proved to be one of the most popular destinations during the Easter holidays: More than 17,800 travellers used the connection, making the city the most popular Easter destination from Dortmund. There was also strong demand for flights to Tirana (9,760 passengers), Bucharest (8,045 passengers) and Sofia (7,279 passengers). The airport also successfully added flights to Wrocław, London and Targu Mures to its route network in time for the start of the summer flight schedule.

Sundays regularly had the highest passenger volumes. On these days, more than 12,000 travellers used the airport at any one time. Even though other routes carried more passengers overall due to higher frequencies, the connection to Pristina proved to be particularly efficient. It recorded very high demand and achieved an average occupancy rate of around 97 per cent.
