Two new destinations included in the schedule with immediate effect
Since Sunday, Dortmund Airport has connected the Ruhr region with another two attractive destinations in Eastern Europe: several weekly flights to Wroclaw in Poland and Târgu Mureș in Romania have now returned to the programme from Dortmund. The maiden flights of the new connections were officially welcomed on the apron with the Wizz Air crew.

The first premiere flight took off for Poland at around 13:20. Wroclaw is now the fifth destination that Wizz Air serves from Dortmund in the neighbouring country. The city in south-west Poland can now be reached twice a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays. Starting June, the service will be expanded to three weekly flights, with four frequencies per week in the pipeline for next winter’s flight schedule. The flight time is only around 80 minutes.
Home to over 100 bridges and numerous islands along the Oder, there are good reasons why Wroclaw is nicknamed the ‘Venice of the East’. The historic old town, a vibrant cultural scene and a dynamic economy make the city an attractive destination for city breakers and business travellers alike. Aside from tourism, Wroclaw is also gaining traction as a business centre. The city’s dynamic development is shaped by international companies and start-ups.

A second maiden flight followed just two hours later when an Airbus A320 took off for Târgu Mureș in Romania. This is also a twice weekly connection, on Wednesdays and Sundays. With currently nine routes, Romania is the country with the most direct connections in the route network from Dortmund.
Târgu Mureș is situated at the heart of Transylvania and is viewed as the region’s cultural capital. Emblematic of the city are its Romanian, Hungarian and German influences, as well as its historic architecture and bustling centre. What’s more, it is an ideal starting point for excursions into the forests of Transylvania or the nearby Carpathian region and, last but not least, part of the legendary landscape of Transylvania.
