You may only walk or drive into areas of Dortmund Airport not generally accessible to the public if you have been given permission to do so. Before access can be granted, all persons and all items carried must undergo inspection.
Security checks are carried out at the Staff and Goods Inspection Point on the Arrivals level (Level 0) in the terminal. If necessary, it is also possible to drive into areas not generally accessible to the public. In this case, security checks and access to the apron are at Gate 15.
Mandatory passes on the airport premises
Passes are mandatory in order to enter areas of Dortmund Airport not generally accessible to the public. Always carry passes issued to you so that they are open and easily visible.
Day passes can be issued to service providers, suppliers, customer service agents or technicians who have been contracted by Dortmund Airport to work there for a short period. Please apply for your pass before commencing work at the airport. To obtain a pass, you must submit your personal ID.
Long-term passes can be issued to companies contracted by Dortmund Airport to work there for longer periods. This involves a check for reliability by the German Aviation Security Authority, which is subject to a fee in accordance with the Schedule of Charges of the Cost Directive of the Aviation Administration (LuftkostV). Payment must be borne by the employer of the reliability test applicant. Dortmund Airport collects the set fee on behalf of the German Aviation Security Authority.
The necessity of a pass and right of access must be certified by the responsible department at the airport.
If you have any queries about rights of access, types of pass and the conditions for acquiring a pass, our staff at the Security Desk will be glad to assist you. The forms needed to apply for a pass are also available here.
