Dortmund Airport has used the past few weeks to prepare for the resumption of flight operations. It has implemented extensive hygiene measures to enable passengers to travel safely even during the Corona pandemic.
“The protection of our passengers and employees is our top priority”, said airport CEO Udo Mager. “The measures we have taken are to make flights as risk-free as possible even during the Corona pandemic. We are fulfilling our responsibility towards our employees as well as our passengers, who want to visit their families abroad again or are looking forward to their summer holiday.”
Dortmund Airport requires that a mask be worn throughout the terminal. This applies to all people entering the airport building. Employees and passengers can protect each other with this measure. Wherever employees and passengers are in direct contact with one another and it was possible, plexiglass panes were installed for additional protection. They can be found, for example, at check-in counters, boarding and information.
Throughout the entire airport, all people must maintain a minimum distance of 1.5 metres from each other. The waiting areas in front of the checkpoints and check-in have been adapted for this. Floor markings as well as stands and digital information monitors draw people's attention to the required distance. Multilingual loudspeaker announcements also refer to the applicable hygiene regulations. Waiting rooms were merged in order to make it possible for passengers to maintain the required distance well.
“We have taken all the necessary and required measures to make safe travel possible even during the Corona pandemic. These measures will of course be continuously checked and modified. We are relying on the common sense of everyone involved to adhere to the applicable rules in order to ensure risk-free travel”, said Udo Mager.
