In the third quarter of 2022, 796,663 passengers used Dortmund Airport as their departure or destination airport – an increase of around 10 per cent compared to last year (726,583 passengers). Compared to the previous peak year of 2019 before the pandemic, there was also an increase in passenger numbers: At that time, Dortmund Airport welcomed 768,168 passengers.

"We are pleased with the high passenger demand. The numbers speak for themselves: Our airport is extremely popular and is an indispensable part of the national infrastructure," sums up airport CEO Ludger van Bebber.

Passenger records were set this year in July as well as in August and September. In September alone, 268,770 passengers used the services at Dortmund Airport – more than 20,000 passengers more than in 2019 (248,326 passengers). A new record in the history of Dortmund Airport!

Particularly popular destinations in the third quarter included Katowice, Palma de Mallorca and Bucharest.

The prospects for the autumn holidays are also rosy. Things have kicked off with the long weekend of German Unity Day. Around 30,000 passengers have already flown to and from Dortmund this weekend.
