Following on from the first three months, Dortmund Airport also recorded impressive growth in passenger numbers in the second quarter. A total of 834,985 travellers chose Dortmund as their preferred airport in the months from April to June. Compared to the same period last year, this represents an increase of 20.35% (141,187 passengers). With 1,427,285 passengers in the first half of the year, the passenger volume increased by 158,311 travellers compared to the same period in the pre-Corona year 2019.

The increased passenger volume was supported by a number of measures, including the opening of Security Checkpoint C in mid-June. The passenger volume was thus evenly spread and passengers were able to start their journey in an even more relaxed manner.

Even busy days at the start of the summer holidays went smoothly, because we were well prepared. During the summer months, travellers can choose their desired holiday destination from a total of 43 destinations in 21 countries. As well as the top destinations Katowice and Palma, Gdansk and Skopje have also been among the most popular destinations in the month of June.

With the steady expansion of the flight network, the airport is confident that the growth trend will continue in the following months.

Dortmund Airport works closely with airlines to continuously expand the range of flights and meet the needs of passengers. Four new destinations have already been added for 2023 (Yerevan, Brasov, Craiova and Sylt).

All passengers are advised to plan enough time on the day of departure to start their summer holiday in a relaxed manner, particularly for the remaining summer holidays.
