Dortmund Airport was able to continue the growth trend of the first half of the year and saw a total of 888,007 passengers for the period from July to September 2023. Compared to the third quarter of the previous year 2022, the airport recorded an increase of over 91,000 passengers, corresponding to a growth rate of 11.4 percent.

Following the months of July and August, which each attracted more than 300,000 travellers, the airport also welcomed 273,670 passengers to the terminal in September. Due to the influence of the summer holidays, the third quarter marks the busiest period of the year so far with 888,007 passengers, as in the past.

The 9-month balance is just as positive: Since the beginning of the year, Dortmund Airport has achieved a cumulative passenger volume of 2,315,292 travellers. “The increase of 13.6 percent compared to the pre-pandemic year 2019, as well as the increase of almost 22 percent compared to the first nine months of 2022, reflect an extremely satisfactory development”, explains airport managing director Ludger van Bebber.

The current trend fuels a confident outlook on the last quarter. “The current traffic volume fills us with optimism”, says Ludger van Bebber. “With around 2.3 million air travellers already, we are currently on course to significantly exceed the annual target of 2.6 million passengers.”
